Leader in Theatre and Arts

Since 1982, The University of Winnipeg's Department of Theatre and Film has developed a reputation for producing some of the most vibrant, creative and successful graduates of any program of its kind in the country. Alumni such as Tina Keeper, Pamela Sinha, Brian Drader and Larry Desrochers have achieved national and international recognition for their work and craft. Students and graduates actively participate in Winnipeg’s rich theatre and cultural life through the Manitoba Theatre Centre, Prairie Theatre Exchange, Manitoba Theatre for Young People, the Winnipeg Film Group and the Winnipeg Fringe Festival.

The Department offers training in a wide range of valuable areas, such as stage acting, directing, design, production and playwriting, as well as filmmaking, acting, and editing. It features an accomplished academic staff, and a steadily increasing enrolment and growing waiting list. With potential for further development, it is well positioned to strengthen its role as a national centre of excellence.
