Centre for Sustainable Transportation

Hartley1

Transportation is linked to all aspects of Canadian life. Current transportation trends are threatening our environmental, economic, and social future. Altering these trends is not an easy task and requires the cooperation of all stakeholders to reduce emissions, waste, use of land and production of noise.

“The new Richardson College for the Environment will be on the cutting edge of environmental studies and sciences . . . the association we have with The University of Winnipeg is long standing and our family commitment to this institution runs deep and we are proud of our connections to it.”

Hartley Richardson
President & Chief Executive Officer
James Richardson & Sons Limited

First established in Toronto in the mid-1990s, the Centre for Sustainable Transportation is now an integral part of The University of Winnipeg providing leadership in achieving sustainable transportation in Canada. It provides reliable information, fills knowledge gaps through research, educates stakeholders and raises awareness among them, and offers strategic policy advice in selected areas. The Centre, along with the Richardson College, strives to become a national resource on sustainable transportation practices and supporting information.

While the support for the Richardson College for the Environment and Science Complex is already considerable, The University of Winnipeg appeals to new donors, corporations and foundations to join us in this venture as we make this vision of a truly sustainable campus a reality.
