LEADER IN SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES
The University of Winnipeg has a long tradition of excellence and innovation in environmental studies, having established the first undergraduate program of its kind in 1970. Today, we are challenging our students, faculty, staff and community members to develop a fully sustainable campus - one that meets the needs of the four dimensions of sustainability: ecological, economical, social and cultural. We are beginning to incorporate sustainability as a way of life in all of our activities and operations – by finding new ways to reduce energy usage, to increase recycling, to encourage use of public transit and to engage in ‘green’ procurement practices.
Our vision is to not only make sustainability a subject for learning and research, but a way of life for the entire community. This will be best demonstrated through the construction of our new campus.
