Global College
Founded in 2005, The University of Winnipeg's Global College is emerging as a leading centre of dialogue and action promoting the understanding of significant global issues through academic programs and community initiatives. Working in close collaboration with the community, Global College brings students, faculty and community together, engaging all to discover their roles within the global context while encouraging them to adopt the principles of responsibility to protect and responsibility to act. It is already developing solid partnerships with new Canadian groups by offering support to both students from war-affected nations as well as emerging cultural communities. The College also coordinates conferences and events on such matters as human rights, landmines, social justice, war-affected children, gender rights, and the rights of Indigenous Peoples, generating discussion on major issues that demand attention and action by thoughtful citizens.

The College has garnered support from a variety of sources. The Dr. Douglas W. Leatherdale Global Internships allows students to travel around the world to research and explore topics of global concern. Former UWinnipeg President Marsha Hanen’s investment in a Global Dialogue and Ethics Program supports faculty-initiated seminars, conferences and research projects that encourage ethical responsibility and respect for human rights. And the Norman and Gwen Axworthy Peace Education Fund offers financial assistance to immigrants and war-affected refugees who want to participate in any UWinnipeg course or program.
Today the College is in search of permanent Principal to provide academic and strategic leadership, and offers opportunities for donors to help students become better global citizens.
