The Wii Chiiwaakanak Learning Centre compliments existing services for Aboriginal students by serving as a community hub for Aboriginal children and adult learners in the West End neighbourhood of Winnipeg – an area with a significant Aboriginal and new Canadian population. Located in the Helen Betty Osborne Building, Wii Chiiwaakanak is a place for children, teenagers and families to become connected with The University of Winnipeg through computer-based learning, mentoring, distance education, an Elders’ Teaching Circle and summer programs for community children. The centre has received generous support from the Governments of Canada and Manitoba, as well as RBC, the Northwest Company and EDS Canada.
