Innovative Learning Centre

Ilc1

The University of Winnipeg's Innovative Learning Centre opens its doors to inner-city youth by offering free programs that are fun, encourage environmental and cultural awareness and promote self-confidence. This summer, for example, more than 700 students participated in Eco-Kids – the largest summer camp of its kind in the city – where they learned the seven Ojibway teachings of truth, honesty, respect, wisdom, courage, love and humility; participated in smudging ceremonies; heard from storytellers; and participated in environmental experiments and teachings as well as field trips to the Living Prairie Museum and Assiniboine Forest. This Fall, the centre earned the support of the Moffat Family Fund for youth programs to support its activities.
